Devnya Cement AD expressed its Christmas spirit through charity
 In the spirit of Christmas, in 2011, Devnya Cement AD found time and will to support a number of charity initiatives to mark the holiday season and the end of the year. The company sponsored the Italian stand (stall) at the XVII Annual Christmas Charity Bazaar, held in Sofia, Bulgaria contributing to its success in raising funds for people in need. With the great contribution of all event sponsors, the Italian stall was able to fundraise BGN 26 000, a significant part of the total amount collected in 2011 – BGN 280 000.
Furthermore, Devnya Cement AD donated food items to two social care institutions operating in the vicinity of the company. 
Safety Heroes of the 4th Quarter of 2011 Receive Awards
 
On the eve of the Company Christmas Celebration held on 15.12.2011, Italcementi Group Bulgaria awarded the first Safety Hero of the 4th Quarter of 2011 for both Devnya Cement AD and Vulkan Cement AD. The 4th Quarter Safety Hero of Devnya Cement AD is Mr. Stefan Chukov, Industrial Cleaning Manager who has been with the company since 1991. The 4th Quarter Safety Hero of Vulkan Cement AD is Mr. Grozyu Grozev, selected from a pool of 12 nominees.
Devnya Cement AD and Vulkan Cement AD awarded at the National Competition on Safety and Health at Work 2011
 On December 15th, 2011 the 2nd Annual National Awards Ceremony on Safety and Health at Work 2011 took place in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. The event was hosted by the Executive Agency “National Labor Inspection” and the Center for Safety and Health at Work, ”. This year, for the first time ever, Italcementi Group Bulgaria received 2 nominations for the Best Bulgarian Company implementing Health & Safety at Work. Devnya Cement AD received a Certificate for 2nd Place in the Large Enterprise Category (company with over 250 employees) and Vulkan Cement AD received 3rd Place in the Medium Size Enterprise Category (a company with 50-250 employees).
Student Visit to Limestone Quarry
 On 30.11.2011 a visit was organized for 18 children enrolled in the “Nikola Vaptsarov” Primary School located in the town of Suvorovo, in close proximity to the Devnya Cement plant. The children had the chance to visit the Lyulyaka limestone quarry, operated by Devnya Limestone AD – a joint venture of Devnya Cement AD and Solvay Sodi AD.
Devnya Cement AD is awarded with ISO 50001:2011 certificate
 In relation to the integrated Environmental Management System, Devnya Cement AD has undertaken a series of activities directed at improving its energy efficiency. Intending to shift its focus more on energy issues, in December 2010 the company obtained a Certificate for Energy Management System (EMS) in conformity with Standard EN 16001:2009. In November 2011, Devnya Cement successfully passed the process of conversion from EN 16001 to the newly established standard ISO 50001:2011. The certificate was received by the company on November 30th, 2011 from Eurocert. The certification process was performed in line with the new energy saving and efficiency commitments recently announced Group’s Sustainable Energy Policy.

Italcementi Group Bulgaria (Devnya Cement and Vulkan Cement) is the largest cement producer in Bulgaria, with an annual production capacity of 2.5 million tons. In addition, the Group provides over 500 direct working positions, as well as 1500 indirect positions, including subcontractors, working on the company’s property.
