On December 15th, 2011 the 2nd Annual National Awards Ceremony on Safety and Health at Work 2011 took place in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. The event was hosted by the Executive Agency “National Labor Inspection” and the Center for Safety and Health at Work, ”. This year, for the first time ever, Italcementi Group Bulgaria received 2 nominations for the Best Bulgarian Company implementing Health & Safety at Work. Devnya Cement AD received a Certificate for 2nd Place in the Large Enterprise Category (company with over 250 employees) and Vulkan Cement AD received 3rd Place in the Medium Size Enterprise Category (a company with 50-250 employees). Mr. Nabil Francis, Managing Director of Italcementi Group Bulgaria received both awards on behalf of the company and expressed his gratitude, in person, to the National Labor Inspection and to Mrs. Rumiana Mihailova – Executive Director of the National Labor Inspection for the institution’s longstanding support.

Over 200 guests attended the Ceremony including other Bulgarian employers, members of Governmental Organizations, Representatives of the Legislature, Members of Parliament, Syndicate Leaders, NGOs etc.

Having both cement plants – Devnya Cement AD and Vulkan Cement AD nominated for the Best Bulgarian Company implementing Health & Safety at work for 2011 Award – is a real honor and is a definite indicator that recognizes the strong efforts, remarkable dedication and achievement of Italcementi Group Bulgaria in the areas of safety and health at work. The award commemorates the outstanding achievement of Devnya Cement AD and Vulkan Cement AD in ensuring the best health and safety work conditions, in line with national and European regulations & legislation. This recognition will be taken to heart by both Companies and will act to further boost the morale of the employees and their commitment to safety.
