In compliance with Italcementi Group’s Environmental Protection Policy and its commitment to Sustainable Development, Devnya Cement has identified environmental care as a key priority in its management policies and corporate culture.
Furthermore, the Environmental Protection Policy and the environment-related initiatives serve as the basis of the Sustainable Development approach.

In order to respond to the needs and expectations of the local communities towards the development and management of its production capacity, Devnya Cement has adopted an active approach in the management of its installations and prevention of environmental risks and conservation of natural resources.

Devnya Cement has identified seven major priorities in its environmental policy, as well as a commitment for continuous improvement of its efficiency in the field of:

• Climate protection and CO2 emission control
• Responsible use of fuels and raw materials
• Emission reduction and protection of surface water
• Waste management
• Occupational safety and protection of employees' health
• Direct impacts on landscape and population
• Reporting and communications

Devnya Cement Environmental Policy is structured in accordance with the following major directions:

• environmental care
  • by applying environmental criteria in the management decision-making processe
  • building a behaviour / culture promoting prevention and recycling
  • encouragement of any initiatives aiming at reduction of harmful impacts and non-renewable raw materials savings
  • implementation of environmental management systems based on ISO 14001 certification in all our plants
• strict compliance with the Bulgarian legislation, provisions and standards in the field of environment
• training and internal communication, aiming at dissemination /communication/ of a responsible attitude towards environmental issues to all Devnya Cement employees, as well as to our subcontractors’ employees. By including environmental care in its training programs and action plans, Devnya Cement strives to commit all its staff to the Environmental Protection Policy and the company objectives in this area.
